The Art of Partying

The Arts Society Teme Valley

Wednesday 15 January at 2:15pm

Ludlow Assembly Rooms

Speaker: Alice Foster

From Roman Mosaics in the second century, through weddings in the Bible, Renaissance allegories of refinement and excess, sixteenth century peasant parties out of doors, eighteenth century courtship dances, to the celebratory styles of twentieth century painters, the depiction of people socialising has always been popular in the history of Western Art.

Alice Foster traces the variety of merrymaking, banqueting, dances and music in a feast of colour.

Owing to renovation works currently being carried out by the Ludlow Assembly Rooms, from now until further notice, lectures will take place in Oscars, NOT in the auditorium.

Tickets: £8 (members: free) at the door
