A return visit by Professor Adrian Lister, of the Department of Earth Sciences at the Natural History Museum, who on this occasion will talk about Darwin's fossil collecting on the Beagle voyage and the importance of fossils to his thinking.

Professor Lister is a palaeobiologist interested in patterns and processes of evolution, adaptation and extinction. His research focusses mainly on Quaternary to recent large mammals, with special expertise in deer and elephants (including mammoths) and is regarded as a leading expert in this area. In 1986 Professor Lister was one of the lead members of the team that recovered the Shropshire Mammoths and has closely studied their remains in order to learn what they can tell us about their lives and deaths.
